I began my career in journalism as a writer and editor for a local newspaper in New Brunswick while attending Rutgers University. Since those early days of manning the fax machine for press releases, banging out articles, producing layouts in Quark, and pasting up ads on a light table (omg!), I have covered many topics, leading teams large and small in producing award-winning publications.

At 24 years old, while managing editor for real estate publishing firm Yale Robbins,
I covered Manhattan residential trends for the pages of New York magazine. I then served as managing editor of magazines for the esteemed IT nonprofit organization ACM, until I landed the role of VP, Content/Managing Editor for the groundbreaking "science is culture" magazine, Seed. (R.I.P.)

I subsequently acted as the executive editor of the iconic Ellie-award-winning design magazine, Print, and then as the editor-in-chief of Kids' Monthly Publications' stable of parenting magazines, New Jersey Family, NJ Baby, and Raising Teens. Over the next eight years, I oversaw digital content strategy and social media for The Child Center of NY, one of
New York City's largest children's mental health organizations. I produced content for six different divisions, internal and external newsletters, websites, fundraising campaigns, and social media channels. I wrote fundraising appeals and designed collateral. I wrote website copy. I wrote executive messaging. I wrote speeches. I edited things nobody remembers me editing.

These days I'm the editor-in-chief of Dining Out Jersey, and, in addition to my editorial work, I'm writing a growing collection of personal "Judy Bug" essays and memoir pieces. The stories explore childhood, family, place, curiosity, and the rabbit holes that inevitably follow. It has become a natural extension of the work I've always loved most: paying attention, asking questions, and finding the meaning.

I received a BS in environmental and business economics from Rutgers' Cook College (now called The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences).

I was born in Central New Jersey and continue to reside there with my family and two truly dumb pets. (The dog means well. The cat not so much.)
